# What are the best Loom alternatives for product demos?

- URL: https://getroomi.com/guides/loom-alternatives-for-product-demos
- Updated: 2026-10-12

Loom is quick for recording a walkthrough, but your viewer watches rather than tries, and Loom names them only if they are signed in. For a demo people click through themselves, use Storylane or Arcade. To send the live app itself, on a link of its own for each person, use Roomi.

This guide compares five tools, ranks them for letting a prospect try the product, and sets out what each tells you and costs. We make Roomi, so weigh that. The [demo tools comparison](https://getroomi.com/compare/demo-tools) covers click-through tools in more depth, and [analytics](https://getroomi.com/docs/analytics) lists what a room records.

| Tool | What the viewer gets | What you learn about viewers | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loom | A recorded video | Loom names a viewer only when they watch while logged in to a Loom account. Anyone else shows as “Anonymous”, with no way to see who they were. | Loom’s Business plan is $18 a user a month, billed monthly, or $180 a user a year, billed yearly. |
| Vidyard | A recorded video | Vidyard’s Free plan records up to five videos a month, each up to 30 minutes, without video analytics. View notifications and view counts start on its paid Starter plan. | Not shown as text on its pricing page |
| Arcade | A click-through capture of your product | Arcade’s Free plan publishes one demo and one video, with no viewer insights. Insights and Audience Reveal start on its Growth plan. | Arcade’s Growth plan is $50 a seat a month, billed monthly, or $42.50 a seat a month, billed yearly. |
| Storylane | A click-through capture of your product | Storylane’s Free plan has one published demo, lead capture and basic analytics. Account reveal and alerts start on Starter, HTML demos on Growth, and private demo links are on Enterprise only. | Storylane’s Starter plan is $40 a month, billed yearly. |
| Roomi | The live app in a room, with a guided tour | Each named viewer’s visits, time on each app and page, how far through the tour they got, their comments and their next step | Free to start. Private links on Pro: £4 a month billed monthly, or £40 a year, before VAT |

Each price is the vendor’s own, as its page bills it, and the sources are listed at the foot of this page.

## Where is Loom good, and where does it stop?

Loom is good for a narrated story you can record quickly and send to anyone. It stops at watching. The viewer cannot try the product, and unless they are signed in to Loom, or your plan asks for their email, you do not know who watched.

- Loom’s free Starter plan allows 25 videos a person, each up to five minutes long, with comments and emoji reactions on every video.
- Loom names a viewer only when they watch while logged in to a Loom account. Anyone else shows as “Anonymous”, with no way to see who they were.
- On Loom’s Business, Business + AI and Enterprise plans, you can require or ask for an email before someone watches.
- Loom’s engagement insights, such as how much of a video people watched and who clicked its call to action, start on the Business plan.

A video also goes out of date with your next release. Nobody can click anything in it.

## The alternatives, ranked for letting a prospect try the product

Ranked by one test: can the prospect use the product themselves, and can you see what they did?

1. **Roomi** — the prospect uses the live app, with a tour, on a link named for them, and you see what they did. We make it, so read the rest with that in mind.
2. **Storylane** — a guided click-through of captured screens, with HTML demos on its higher plans and lead capture from its free plan.
3. **Arcade** — click-through demos and AI videos in one tool. Its insights start on the paid plan.
4. **Vidyard** — video, as Loom is, aimed at sales teams. Its analytics start on the paid plan.

## Video, click-through or live app: which do you need?

Pick by what the viewer should do. If they should listen to you tell the story, record a video. If they should follow a set path through your screens, use a click-through demo. If they should try the real product and you want to see what each person did, send the live app.

| Format | Best for | The viewer | What it needs from you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Video | A narrated story, sent to anyone | Watches | A screen and a microphone |
| Click-through demo | A set path, embedded on a website or a help centre | Clicks through the screens you captured | A capture, and some editing |
| Live app in a room | A named prospect who should try it | Uses the product, on mock data | An app that already works |

[Storylane and Navattic alternatives](https://getroomi.com/guides/storylane-and-navattic-alternatives-when-you-have-the-real-app) sets the click-through tools against the live app. On Roomi, the live app runs on mock data, so a prospect can click anything without reaching a real system. A tour of a few steps points them at what matters. [Writing the tour](https://getroomi.com/docs/story) shows how one is made. [The demo tour script template](https://getroomi.com/guides/demo-tour-script-template) gives you one to start from.

## What does each tell you about viewers?

Loom names viewers who are signed in, or who give an email on its paid plans. Vidyard and Arcade keep their analytics for paid plans, and Storylane adds account reveal on Starter. Roomi names every viewer by their link, and shows their visits, time on each app and page, and how far through the tour they got.

On Roomi, private links come with Pro and up. Each one carries the name of the person you made it for. If they forward it, whoever opens it is asked who they are, so you see everyone it reached. You also see the comments they pinned and their answer to what happens next: a meeting, a yes, a question, or “Not for me”.

On Free, a project is a draft only you can open, or listed publicly with total views. [Tech sales](https://getroomi.com/use-cases/tech-sales) covers rooms for sales teams.

When you send a link, tell the person who you are and that the room records what they do there for you to see. Say how they can reach you about their data, or point them to the [privacy policy](https://getroomi.com/privacy).

## Questions people ask

### Can I use Loom and Roomi together?

Yes, by linking. Put the Loom link in the message that carries the room’s link, or in a Markdown page in the room, where links open in a new tab. A room’s pages cannot play a video inside the room.

### Is there a free Loom alternative?

Arcade, Storylane and Vidyard each have a free plan, with limits on how much you publish or record. Roomi is free to start too, and a private link for each viewer starts on Pro.

### Which is quickest to make?

A recording, which needs only your screen. A click-through demo needs a capture and some editing. Roomi is quick only when the app already exists: then Claude deploys it from the chat you built it in.

### Do my viewers need an account?

Not on Roomi: a viewer opens their own link in a browser, with nothing to install. Loom names a viewer only when they watch while logged in to a Loom account. Anyone else shows as “Anonymous”, with no way to see who they were.

### Can viewers leave feedback?

Yes, on both. Loom’s free Starter plan allows 25 videos a person, each up to five minutes long, with comments and emoji reactions on every video. In a Roomi room, a viewer pins a comment to the screen they mean, and reads your reply there the next time they open their link.
